His name is Johnny Starks, but most know him as KOOLOUT, the positively charming, intelligent, and witty actor and radio personality with the magnetic persona.
Koolout has spent years developing his style and his career in film and radio. Growing up on the West Side of Chicago, he started his radio career in Chicago before continuing his education at the University of Missouri in Columbia. Koolout then found himself at the powerhouse urban radio station, Clear Channel's 107.5 FM WGCI. He began working in the promotions department for WGCI, as a Van Personality and built a reputation as a dedicated and highly energetic character. Preempted by his popularity on the streets, Koolout quickly transitioned from van personality to on-air personality, hosting the consistently number one show in that time slot, "The Sunday Night Koolout".
In addition to being an on air personality, Koolout had the privilege of being Ebony Magazines 2007 bachelor of the year.
Koolout is an Actor who has accumulated film credits in such films as Ran$om Games with Woody Harris and Elise Neil, Phamily BBQ 2: The engagement, Barbershop, Ice Harvest, Roll Bounce, Spiderman 2, Godfather of Green Bay and George Tillman's Scenes from the Soul, Subtle Seduction, and Nothing like the Holiday's. In addition to film Koolout is also the driving force behind his live interactive variety show entitled "Koolout & Friends." Koolout also partners with a non-profit organization "The Beat Creators" and Earl Powell as they focus on teaching youth as well as bridging the gap of communication between youth and adults with the program TTAL (Teens Talk and Adults Listen).
Koolout focuses on the community working with voter registration drives, The Lydia Home Association, Stars, BMOA, and various other organization that focus on the development of youth and community.
